When was the last time you felt pushed out of your comfort zone? Does it happen more often than it used to? You’ve heard of the parable Jesus told his disciples about the wealthy man giving his servants each a bag of talents. To one he gave 5 talents, to another two talents, and to the third he gave 1 talent. He commended the first two who invested the talents and increased them. But to the man he gave one talent, he merely returned it, because instead in of investing it, he buried it so it wouldn’t be lost.
It’s not too difficult to figure out who God was most pleased with. How does this apply to your life? What talents has God gifted you with?
Sometimes it’s hard to determine our own gifts because they don’t necessarily seem like a big deal. It comes easily to you so you don’t see it as a “gift”. Maybe you’re good with numbers. How could you use that skill to help the Kingdom? Help people who are struggling with money to figure out how to set up a budget. It doesn’t mean you have to advertise your skill on a billboard. Take one step at a time.
Listen to God when he speaks into your heart, he’ll lead you to what he has planned for you. How do you do that? Pray and wait patiently for an answer. Listen. It doesn’t always come right away. Sometimes it’s taken God weeks to answer my prayer and sometimes its been years. But, I trust in his faithfulness because he always delivers more than I could have imagined when it’s in his timing.
Sometimes fear holds people back from asking God to reveal these things. That was me for a long time. But each time that I trust, I am amazed at what he reveals! Don’t be afraid that he will ask you to go to Timbuktu. He knows you and he knows what you can handle, even if it may be out of your comfort zone. You may try to back out of it at first, like Moses did. He’s never let me down and I know he will give you whatever you need in the way of wisdom if you will stay in communication with him and grow your relationship with him!

What do you have to share that you’ve been holding back? Maybe its something that you’ve never shared with anyone before, but you feel like now is the time. God will provide what you need. He’ll be there by your side. He’ll help you find the words when you need them. Trust in him to guide you. When he can trust you with the little things, the blessings will grow as he can trust you with bigger things.
In Faith,
Pam
