I have to share with my readers, the awesome God we serve! A few years ago, God put it on my heart to have a women’s retreat for the ladies in my church. We did that in 2023 and it was amazing! I knew that the only way this year’s retreat would rival that one was if God was involved, so agin, I asked my church to pray for God’s guidance as we planned it. Let me tell you, He brought women who were broken, empty, and hurting. And he brought women willing to share their story with others, women of faith, with loving hearts and open arms.
As we opened with our first worship set, I knew that it was going to be a great weekend! When I looked out at the arms lifted up to the Father, tears streaming down their cheeks, with smiles on their faces, I knew that God was in the house! I have never seen worship any greater than this time together. It wasn’t that the music was great, we weren’t playing with tracks in the background or anything fancy with our sound system. It was a keyboard and an acoustic guitar and a gathering of almost 60 people that poured their souls out in worship of the one true God.
Listening to women share, reading their evaluations and what they shared in our Facebook group, I know that we were blessed with His presence. The prayer stations were a big favorite because they were given something to focus on in various contexts; burdens, prayer, appreciation, truth and testimony, and a time to reflect on how God loves them. I saw tears, prayer, connection with God, forgiveness. And I saw women who couldn’t see value in themselves open their eyes to see a God that loved them despite their flaws and that he had a plan for their life.
This is a time that I will never forget and I can’t wait to see what He’s got planned for next year! The women who come alongside me to help plan and carry out this event are amazing and just seemed to jump in and help wherever they were needed. Thank you to each of you and to each participant who trusted us with your valuable time. Looking forward to sharing more with you next year.
We’re looking at other possible venues for next year as I think we’ve outgrown the place we held our first two retreats. Searching for where God’s leading us!
