The total eclipse that many of us were able to witness yesterday was quite a site to see! I appreciate those who were able to capture the vast reach of God, our Creator, on film. We are drawn to the unknown, but have we lost the awe and wonder of just how big our God is?! I know there is science and math that can explain a lot of what we saw, but only one with the command of creation Himself could create with such accuracy as to make these wonders, even life itself a reality that we often take for granted!
God knows what is going on in your life. There is nothing you can hide from him. All he created is for his glory.

Psalm 19:1
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Could you look at the sky during the total eclipse and see God’s handiwork? I don’t know how you could look at it and see anything else. He is glorified in his creations! Just look at the world around you and give him thanks for his creation.
There is actually a lot of darkness in this world, but it doesn’t come from God. We will see seasons of darkness, but if we choose to see the glimmers of light that pierce through the darkness we can see the hope that he has for us.
During the eclipse we experienced the gradual loss of the sunlight as the moon blocked out the sun. But it was only temporary. The same is true of the darkness that overshadows our lives at times. Everyone sees the sun and God has given grace to everyone. You can have your sins forgiven. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done. The gift is for everyone.
It may be difficult for us to grab onto the thought of Jesus being the good shepherd, but know that he would leave the 99 behind to go after that “one” if it were you or I. We don’t come across shepherds now days like they did in biblical times, but the sheep knew the voice of their shepherd and they wouldn’t follow anyone else.
I pray that it’s that way for you. Hear only his voice and not the evil one. Satan will do what he can to lead us astray, so stay close to Jesus. Lean into the wonder to awaken us to the beauty and marvel that is around us in nature.
I just want to say here that the photography of Carson Hughes has certainly been a reminder of the beauty of nature that is available to us right here in the Midwest. Thanks, Carson, for the gift you’ve left as a legacy and to you, Mandy and Jason Hughes for sharing it with all of us!
Keep in the Word and lean into Jesus.
