It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when we are about to embark on a new adventure. It might be a new job that you are looking for, maybe even a different type of career. The challenge may seem too steep for you to overcome by yourself. But, you don’t have to do it by yourself. Ask God to give you a team of encouragers to help you along the way. Ask for God to lead you into the right career, ministry, or relationship. Whatever it is that you’re facing that seems too daunting on your own, seek out trustworthy leaders or friends that believe in you and can remind you of your strength.

You can do this! Don’t lose the battle before you even step foot on the battlefield. Summon up the courage to overcome the obstacles keeping you from reaching your goals. I can remember when I was about to go off to college. I was really nervous because I was going to a school a couple of hours away from home. I knew nobody there. None of my friends were going to be going there. I was very shy, but I knew that millions of people went away to college every year. If they could do this, so could I! Despite my shyness, I made a few friends pretty quickly and decided to pledge a sorority. I was also very athletic and decided I would try a new sport. There weren’t many people who had much experience at field hockey, so it didn’t matter that I’d never played before. Most of the others who came out had never played before, either.

Want to learn something new? I started guitar lessons when I was in my 40’s. On a whim, I walked into a music store one day and walked out with my first lesson scheduled. I didn’t even own a guitar yet, but that didn’t stop me. This has led to the best experience of my life. I’ve had some great teachers along the way and before I knew it, I was playing with our praise band at church. That led to leading on stage and speaking in front of a congregation.

I feel like I’m where I’m at in life because that’s where God wants me. If I hadn’t chosen to be a teacher, I may never have gotten the experience of speaking in front of people that would allow me to slip into this role so easily.

But, you see, God has a plan for your life, just like he has one for mine. It doesn’t matter if you’re a quiet girl from the country, God can make things happen to move you where he wants you to be and into the role he wants you in. Don’t be afraid to take the next step. Ask God to be beside you and he will be!

In Faith,

Pam
