Spending Time In The Presence of God

The busier you become, the more you need this time apart with God. The time spent with Him is a necessity, not a luxury!

It’s easy to get wrapped up in our busy schedules. We pack our weeks with meetings, sports events and practices, time to workout at the gym, and whatever else we can find that we just must do. But, are you making time to spend with God?

I know, your morning is rushed as it is. Getting the kids ready for school and then getting to work on time is more than enough to fill your morning. There is simply no time there. And you don’t have time now to eat a proper lunch, let alone set time aside for prayer. When you get home, it’s time to fix supper and then off to a meeting or practice with the kids. By the time you get home, you’re ready to fall into bed, right?

Where there’s the will, there’s a way! With a little creative planning, you can find the time or cut back on something else to make time to be in the presence of God. It’s said that where we spend our time is what’s important to us. If we don’t make time at all for God, doesn’t that give him a hint that he’s not that important to us? Now is the perfect time to restructure your time to make God a priority.

One possibility is to get up 15 minutes earlier. Many people like to start their day with prayer. It helps to set their focus for the day and connect with the Lord. Share your praises and concerns with Him to start your day seems like a good idea.

Other people can fit time with God into their commute. Spending an hour or so in the car? Turn that wasted time into prayer time. Just don’t close your eyes! Spend your lunch hour fitting in a walk for exercise? Pray while you walk.

If none of those fit your schedule, how about some quiet down time as your day unwinds? If that’s what works for you, embrace it! It doesn’t really matter when you find the time to be in the presence of God, just that you find it!

In Faith,

Pam
