Can God Do Anything?

One can look at the world today and ask where is God? Surely, he could put an end to the craziness with COVID 19.

Yes, and I believe he’ll ultimately put an end to it in his timing. You see, there are things God is changing even now. We just can’t see it for all of the craziness. Sometimes when it’s right in front of us, we can’t see it.

Most of you have probably heard of Jonah and the fish that swallowed him. There’s more to the story. God went to Jonah and told him to go to Nineveh and preach against the city because there was much evil in it. Well, Jonah did not like the people of Nineveh. He knew that God could save them, but instead of following God’s instructions he fled to Tarshish. He got on a ship headed for the port there.

But a turbulent storm arose and threatened the boat and it’s passengers. When it was found the Jonah was fleeing the presence of God, he told them to throw him overboard. But instead of drowning Jonah, God provided a big fish to swallow Jonah. He spent 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the fish.

Have you ever felt God give you instructions to do something that you didn’t want to do? You can’t see the reason he wants you to follow his instructions for whatever reason. Maybe you don’t think the recipient of God’s kindness was deserving, like Jonah. But is that really up to you?

We are servants of our creator, aren’t we? We see only what is right in front of us. The vision we see is not what God sees. That’s why it’s so hard for us to understand. But, that’s where trust comes into the picture. If we don’t follow God’s leading, we will not find peace until we are in God’s will, as was the case with Jonah.

I learned that the book of Jonah is about the prophet. Not the prophecy. It’s about the prideful, selfish, childish person that Jonah was being. He thought that the people of Nineveh couldn’t possibly be brought within God’s will be cause they were so evil. But, God can do anything. We see God align things in place until Jonah finally repented and agreed to fulfill the mission God had for him. While still in the belly of the fish, Jonah begins praying…not for deliverance from the fish, but thanking God for deliverance that hadn’t even happened yet.

This is the point that Jonah has come into line with God’s vision. Because God can do anything, even a nation that is evil can find salvation in the Lord! So Jonah delivered the message to Nineveh and 120000 pagans chose to follow God!

If God can change the hearts of all those pagans what can he do for your community? It’s unbelievable what God can do if we’ll just ask. He wants more for us than we can even imagine. What is it in your life that you think is too big for God? Believe and trust. He can do anything! He has a way of bringing our will into line with his. When what we want is what he wants, we have the best possibility of seeing what our Big God can do!

About COVID, God is doing amazing things right now. What is he doing in your life? I think at the end of all of this, we will see the some of the amazing things he’s been putting in place!

In Faith,

Pam
