There is nothing that I can do to earn the love of Jesus. He already loves me. My actions are in thanksgiving for the love that he has for me. I serve him because he loves me.
We find Scripture that supports this in the story of the sinful woman who washes Jesus’ feet with her tears and dries them with her hair. Then she pours perfume from the jar on his feet. This is expensive perfume that she is lavishing on him. It is an expression of her love for him and Jesus responds by forgiving her many sins.
Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven – for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.
Luke 7:47
Who are we to judge someone else for their expression of love for Jesus. We can’t guess their motives for what they do, not should we try to. That is for Jesus to judge. We must simply be concerned with showing his love to others and leave the judgment to him.
Just putting this here for you to ponder…
