Today, I want to talk about focus. We are all going to face troubling times in our lives. It could be any number of things that puts us into this season of life. And we start to think about the future and how this trouble is going to affect our family. You see, Satan whispers in our ear…you’re not good enough, you don’t deserve to be successful. You aren’t good enough to do God’s work. Who do you think you are? You are nothing.
You’re right, Satan. I am nothing…without God! I am not good enough without God and I don’t deserve what blessings God bestows upon me. But, God has a plan for me and it’s one that will prosper me.
Now I can focus on the doubts that Satan puts in my mind or I can choose to believe the promises of God. So, turn to the Bible for proof:
Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Isaiah 10:31 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
That’s a very small sampling of the promises found in God’s word. We need to keep our focus on God. When doubt or fear start to creep in, remember that the Father has promised to always be with you. In your weakness, his strength can be glorified.
This was on my heart today, maybe because I often feel the struggle to be more. So, I’m going to be working on this in my own walk with God. Maybe one of you out there needed to read this post today. May you be blessed.
