How Big is God?

This was first published on facebook.com/faithmattersblog

Do you know how big God is? Well, I’ve never seen him, but I know he is bigger than anything I have to face. He hasn’t let me down so far and nothing is going to change that now.

It doesn’t matter what you face, if you abide in God, you will overcome it. That’s the kicker, you’ve got to “abide in God”. You can’t just do as you please and then expect God to come running when the going gets tough. Oh, he loves you. He always has.

This morning, Jon, our pastor, said we are not commanded to love, to receive God’s love. We’ve already been loved by God. We are loved equally, but uniquely. We are all different people with different personalities. Therefore, we don’t all need the same things to be loved.

There are things that divide us all. Even within the church. Things like politics, our likes and dislikes, denominations, some of us are Bengals fans and some root for the Colts or the Steelers. Despite all of these differences, we can still love each other.

Do you know why? No one has ever seen God, so how can we see his love? We see it in the people who love him. When a believer truly accepts God they are born anew in God’s Spirit. We should notice a difference in them. Their actions should reflect God’s love.

Jesus died to cover our sins, but we are not free and clear of judgment. It was God who first loved us and sent his Son to the cross. The fee wasn’t waived for our sins, Jesus paid with his life. Why was this done? So that we can be with him forever in heaven.

Love is a choice. An act that we choose to do. Someone else this week said that love is not a feeling, it’s a verb.

We have a choice to abide in him. If you’ve wandered away, you need to know when you need to get back into him.

How we love others is the best way for God’s love to be shown to other people. That’s how we can bring others to understand the love that God has for them and what they need to do to accept it.

Want to know more? See you in church next Sunday! If not my church, any church, but seek out the one true God.

In Faith,
Pam

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:8

If you abide in God, you are a child of God.
