As I was doing my devotional this morning, I was reminded of how easily we can leave the church for one reason or another. We’ve been hurt by someone in the church, the hypocrisy of so called Christians who don’t act like Christians, or life gets too busy. When COVID hit most of us were staying at home, but as churches have opened up many are not returning to the church. I get it if you’re scared right now. But I ran across this Scripture this morning and it’s been weighing on my heart.
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:24-25, emphasis added
This just jumped out at me! I know some people feel that they can study the Scriptures and pray at home, but we’re reminded that it’s important for us to meet together. There will be hypocrites at church, people will say things that we may not agree with. We are human and struggling to deal with all that life brings. We are all sinners, so we should expect errors in judgment. If one church isn’t for you, keep looking. God will lead you to the one you’re supposed to be attending. Ask and believe.

God has a plan for your life and it’s better than any plan you can come up with. But how will you know if you don’t listen to him? Ask him to show you the way. Ask him to soften your heart and be receptive to what he’s showing you.
I’ve found that being involved in a church puts me in contact with people who will help me in bad times and rejoice in the good times. But you’ve got to invest yourself into the relationships with people.
Think you’re not worthy. Yeah, I know. You’re not. Neither am I. But Jesus loves me anyway. He loved me first and laid down his life to cover the sins I hadn’t even committed yet. Nothing greater than to lay oneself down for the life of a friend? There is nothing you can do to earn your way into heaven except go accept the gift he is offering you.
